Indoor & Off-Season Training
Rowing doesn’t stop when we’re off the water. At Tullaghan Bay Rowing Club, we train year-round using indoor rowing machines (ergs). These sessions keep our fitness levels high, sharpen technique, and prepare us for the season ahead. Our junior and adult teams have also enjoyed great success competing in indoor rowing competitions over the years.
We run regular training sessions throughout the week, open to both beginners and experienced rowers. Our coaches create a supportive environment where you can:
Build strength, stamina, and technique
Learn the fundamentals of safe and effective rowing
Train on land and on the water with sessions tailored to all fitness levels
Whether you’re aiming for race day or simply want to stay active and social, you’ll find a welcoming community here.
Coastal rowing is one of the fastest-growing styles of rowing, designed for open seas, oceans, and large lakes where conditions are rougher and more unpredictable. Using wider, more stable boats built to handle waves, wind, and currents, it’s an accessible sport for both beginners and seasoned athletes. With exciting race formats like endurance courses and the Olympic beach sprint, coastal rowing blends fitness, adventure, and strategy while fostering a strong sense of community and connection with nature.

Currachs Rowing
Curragh rowing is a traditional Irish form of rowing that has been passed down through generations along the west coast. Curraghs are lightweight boats made with a wooden frame and canvas or tar covering, designed to handle Atlantic swells and coastal waters. Once vital for fishing and transport, they are now central to community regattas and club racing. Curragh rowing blends heritage, teamwork, and fitness, offering both a cultural connection and a thrilling challenge on the water.
